Board appoints search committee chaired by Brendan Clark and retains Wilbanks Partners to lead the process
The Money Management Institute (MMI) has announced the launch of a search for its next President & Chief Executive Officer following the planned retirement of Craig Pfeiffer, who has served as President & CEO since 2015. Mr. Pfeiffer will retire effective December 31, 2026, and will remain in his role through year-end to support a smooth transition for MMI's management team, members, and partners.
The MMI Board of Governors has formed a Search Committee chaired by Brendan Clark, Chair Emeritus of the MMI Board, aligned with the new Chair Jim Devaney, and has retained Wilbanks Partners, led by George Wilbanks. This leadership group will lead a comprehensive search for the organization's next leader.
The search comes at a pivotal moment for the advisory solutions industry, as firms navigate accelerating change across alternative investments, technology, evolving advisor expectations, and the transfer of wealth to a new generation of investors. The Board is seeking a leader who can build on MMI's momentum and help shape the industry's next chapter.
The Search: Leading MMI's Next Chapter
The Search Committee will conduct a comprehensive, industry-wide search for a strategic, mission-driven leader to guide MMI through its next phase of growth and impact. The Board is seeking a candidate with deep industry credibility, a strong track record of organizational leadership, and the vision to extend MMI's role as the industry's leading association for collaboration, professional development, and thought leadership. Ideal candidates will bring experience across multiple segments of the advisory ecosystem, strong client-facing leadership skills, and fluency in strategy, finance, technology, and public and private investments.
Building on a Decade of Transformation
Under Mr. Pfeiffer's leadership since 2015, MMI has grown to 215 member firms and more than 11,000 individual members. MMI membership includes a community of leading asset management, wealth management, and solutions providers that represents approximately 95% of investment advisory solutions assets in the United States. The next President & CEO will inherit an organization at the height of its influence with an energized senior leadership team.
Guided by MMI's values, Participate with Intent, Solve Together, and Think Forward, the organization has fostered an advanced ecosystem for professional development, industry-leading events, and peer engagement, including:
- A career-stage professional development platform built in partnership with leading universities: MMI Academy (under 5 years of experience), MMI Leadership Pathway (5-10 years), and Executive IQ® by Money Management Institute (10+ years), designed to support talent development across the industry and strengthen the next generation of leaders.
- Industry-leading events and communities that bring together asset managers, wealth managers, and solutions providers to address the issues shaping the business. These forums, along with member-led communities across Distribution & Sales, Marketing, Advisory Products & Solutions, Legal & Compliance, and Technology & Digital Advice, enable senior practitioners to share best practices and develop talent across critical functions.
- MMI Thrive, a dedicated business unit and strategic community designed to help emerging asset manager firms with under $25M in AUM grow and scale, extending the benefits of MMI's peer network to the next generation of firms.

The work ahead for MMI is more important than ever, and I am very confident that the Board will identify a leader equal to the moment." – Craig Pfeiffer, President & CEO, MMI
"MMI today stands at the most influential point in its history, and the opportunity ahead for our next leader is extraordinary. The Board has launched this search with a clear mandate: to identify a President & CEO who will build on a decade of momentum and lead MMI through one of the most consequential periods of industry transformation in a generation. On behalf of the Board, I also want to thank Craig for his vision, unwavering commitment, and remarkable impact on MMI and our industry. He has built a strong platform for the next chapter." – Brendan Clark, Search Committee Chair and Chair Emeritus, MMI Board of Governors
"MMI occupies a singular position in financial services, earning the trust of many of the leading asset and wealth management firms in the country. The next President & CEO will lead an organization with exceptional momentum, a deeply engaged membership, and a platform that reaches every corner of the advisory solutions industry. We are seeking a leader with the strategic vision, gravitas, and operating discipline to guide MMI through the next phase of industry change, and Craig has set a high bar for his successor who will be another accomplished C-Suite executive." – George Wilbanks, Founder, Wilbanks Partners
