Arlen Oransky to Retire from MMI After Two Decades of Leadership

December 16, 2024

NEW YORK, NY, December 16, 2024 – The Money Management Institute (MMI) has announced that its Chief Membership Officer, Arlen Oransky, a respected leader whose contributions have significantly influenced both the organization and the financial services industry, plans to retire at the end of 2025.

For the past 20 years Arlen has dedicated himself to member engagement and service, leaving a lasting imprint on the industry. During his tenure, Arlen played an integral role in advancing MMI’s mission to enable thousands of professionals across the investment advisory space to Connect, Know, and Grow. Many have referred to him as “the face of MMI.”

Craig Pfeiffer, President and CEO of MMI, said, “Anyone who has been lucky enough to meet Arlen quickly realizes that he’s an exemplary leader due to his genuine approach and humility. His extensive network is a testament to this and underscores the meaningful impact he’s had on MMI, its members, and the industry. We wish him all the best as he embarks on his exciting new chapter.”

Arlen’s four decades in the industry have been marked by many accomplishments. He co-authored The New Managed Account Solutions Handbook: How to Build Your Financial Advisory Practice Using Managed Account Solutions with Steve Gresham, a pivotal guidebook designed to help financial advisors adapt to evolving client expectations and industry dynamics. He was also recognized as a Legend of WealthTech by the LifeYield podcast for playing an integral part in MMI’s growth from a small group of separately managed accounts (SMAs) advocates to the broader institution it is now.

Arlen also contributed his expertise to the launch of MMI’s Thrive initiative, which he co-leads. Thrive serves as the premier destination for Emerging Asset Managers, providing support and specialized content for the unique needs of these asset management firms as they navigate an ever-changing ecosystem. Since its launch earlier this year, Thrive has made strides in this community through the Emerging Asset Managers Forum, MMI Emerging Asset Managers Community, and CEO Roundtable, in all of which Arlen has played a central leadership role.

“As I look back on this journey, I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to collaborate with incredibly talented and inspiring colleagues and partners,” Arlen shared. “My time at MMI has been extraordinarily rewarding, and I’m proud of our collective successes to elevate an organization that continues to set benchmarks of excellence. I’m equally excited for my next chapter with Adri Chocolates.”

Adri Chocolates is a legacy endeavor that started with Arlen’s late sister-in-law who tragically passed away at a young age from COVID. Arlen looks forward to supporting this charitable venture that is close to his heart, alongside his wife Isabel.

Prior to joining MMI, Arlen held positions with TIAA, Weiss, Peck & Greer, and T. Rowe Price.  MMI has special plans to honor Arlen’s career and legacy. Details will be shared at a later date.
