Associate Portfolio Consultant

Position Summary:
The Associate Portfolio Consultant in the Portfolio Analysis and Consulting Group sits within Natixis Investment Managers Solutions. The Associate Portfolio Consultant has two main responsibilities. They provide investment consulting services to clients and prospects of the firm assessing advisor portfolios using qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive portfolio reviews (in person or over the phone)
- Gather and understand clients’ investment related goals/objectives, needs/concerns and market expectations.
- Create analytics using in-house software, and individual ideas.
- Identify challenges, uncertainties and obstacles within a range of models.
- Pinpoint gaps, inconsistencies, vulnerabilities and overlap within a portfolio and provide specific direction toward resolving the issues identified.
- Provide capital market and economic market context from a historical and forward-looking basis as it relates to existing portfolio and proposed changes.
- Identify ways to inform, improve and advance the client’s portfolio construction and on-going portfolio management practices.
- Conduct investment research and continuously build knowledge relating to asset allocation methods and risk analysis.
- Support and contribute to the Natixis Investment Committee providing topical investment research, portfolio weighting suggestions and weekly comments or ideas for discussion.
- Gain and continuously improve proficiency around capital market and macro-economic concepts and how they impact a diversified portfolio.
- Suggest inventive ways to improve, differentiate and advance the team’s analytical capabilities.
- Train and partner with external sales people on portfolio construction related concepts. Strategize on pursuing client opportunities.
- Continuously monitor key competitors and noteworthy trends within the competitive landscape.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of Natixis’s affiliate investment capabilities.
- Contribute to advancing our consulting methods in the form of optimizing use of existing software applications, explore and identifying new concepts and methodologies that round-out and distinguish the offering and propose ways to improve presentation and communication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 5-7 years of prior related experience in the financial services industry
- CFA, or masters degree is strongly desired
- Demonstrated strength and proficiency with analytical concepts and mathematical sciences
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Highly credible and professional with ability to conduct individual and group meetings
- Excellent time management and strong organization skills, and highly motivated
- Works well on a team and enjoys mentoring the junior members
- Possesses strong work ethic and desire to continuously improve
- Proficient with analytical software packages including MPI Stylus, Factset, Bloomberg and risk modeling applications
- Ability to travel 15-25% of time
- Must have series 7 & 63 (or equivalent) or must obtain within 90 days of hire.
