Associate Financial Analyst

The position manages the financial planning and analysis of a domestic sales channel, which includes the tracking and managing of revenue and expenses along with budgeting and planning of the income statement. The role is also involved with potential M&A deals and supports Investor Relations around our quarterly public earnings releases.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and operates the business planning and reporting for a domestic sales channel. This includes all aspects such as budgeting/forecasting, detailed revenue and cost analysis along with reconciliation of monthly and quarterly reporting. There is a high level of collaboration with senior sales managers and opportunities to collaborate with many different business partners to become the financial lead for your specific sales channel.
- Produces ad hoc financial reports that provide insights to senior managers that enable them to understand the financial implications of their decisions. This is done through the construction of financial models to answer questions, apply sensitivity (“what if”) analysis, and test recommendations.
- Provide reporting that helps prepare senior executives for the quarterly earnings release.
- Potential to be significantly involved in the financial modelling for M&A deals.
- Seek and understand sources of data for input into analyses and models. Become a subject matter expert.
- Interpret requests into final, formatted reports in an accurate and timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Independently identify expense trend variations and provide explanations
- Prepares 3rd party payment accruals and other information for closing process.
- Develop, maintain, test, and implement MIS (budgeting) software.
- Ensure accuracy of related systems by reviewing aggregate transactions and reconciling data on a periodic basis (monthly and/or quarterly) from the MIS system with all related systems such as Oracle Financials,
- Hyperion Essbase/SmartView, FINDERS, and MARS.
- Seek to enhance knowledge of Federated and financial services industry through continuous training and education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree required; Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field is preferred
- Two years FP&A experience preferred with a knowledge of profit and loss statements, corporate budgeting/forecasting, and a passion for corporate finance.
- Direct FP&A experience in the investment management industry is valued
- Experience with financial information systems is preferred (Hyperion Essbase/Smartview, FINDERS, Oracle Financials, MIS and MARS)
