Money Management Institute Annual Conference, Embracing Waves of Change, to be Hosted Virtually

Friday, October 2, 2020

NEW YORK, October 2, 2020 – The Money Management Institute’s (MMI) Annual Conference will, for the first time, be hosted virtually in 2020. Taking place from October 6 to October 23, the conference, Embracing Waves of Change, will feature 40 hours of presentations and discussions by thought leaders and decision makers from across the financial advisory industry. This year’s theme is especially timely in light of the COVID-19 crisis, as firms and advisors are adjusting their strategies to meet their clients’ rapidly shifting needs.

The conference will cover everything from social justice and leading through adversity, to the U.S. presidential election and how COVID-19 will permanently change the advisory industry. This year, MMI will also be launching online discussion groups, virtual networking sessions, and offering access to a digital exhibit hall, as well as some additional surprises.

“For obvious reasons, we made the decision to host this year’s event virtually,” said Craig Pfeiffer, MMI President and CEO. “Though we will miss the collegiality of getting together in person, we are excited about the new possibilities this virtual format provides. Hosting the conference remotely will give more people the ability to participate and enjoy the content, speakers, and the overall experience, without leaving the comfort and safety of their own homes or offices. In addition, we have assembled an outstanding lineup of speakers and presenters, and are rolling out new digital features to drive discussion and interaction.”

The virtual conference will feature 43 different sessions, including a keynote address based on the best-selling book The Infinite Game with Heath Slawner, Igniter with Simon Sinek, Inc., along with general sessions and panel discussions. The agenda will comprise seven thematic tracks with four sessions per track: Distribution and Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Tools & Technology, Social Justice, Retirement, and Sustainable & Impact Investing. The subject matter tracks provide attendees the ability to easily build a personalized agenda that suits their specific interests and needs. All sessions will be open to the media.

Featured speakers at MMI’s Annual Conference will include:

  • Walt Bettinger, President & Chief Executive Officer, Charles Schwab
  • Tash Elwyn, President & Chief Executive Officer, Raymond James Associates
  • Carla Harris, Vice Chairman, Global Wealth Management & Senior Client Advisor, Morgan Stanley
