NEW YORK, NY, September 14, 2017 – The Money Management Institute (MMI) today announced that it has selected Matt Witkos, President of Eaton Vance Distributors, Inc., as its 2017 Advisory Solutions Pioneer. Mr. Witkos will receive the award during the 2017 MMI/Barron’s Industry Awards Dinner on October 3, 2017, at the 2017 MMI Annual Conference in Chicago.

The prestigious Pioneer Award, the highest honor in the investment advisory solutions industry, was first bestowed in 1998. It recognizes individuals who embody MMI’s mission to serve as advocates and catalysts for the advancement of the advisory solutions and wealth management industry.

“This award is given annually to an industry leader who exemplifies the pioneer spirit,” said Roger Paradiso, MMI Chairman and Head of Alternative Distribution Strategies at Legg Mason. “As MMI marks its twentieth anniversary, I cannot think of a worthier recipient than Matt Witkos. An accomplished sales and marketing executive, Matt has spent his career refining the art of investment distribution and championing the role that professional investment management plays in helping individual investors achieve their financial goals and dreams.”

“Matt has made invaluable contributions to the MMI organization and to the investment advisory solutions industry at large,” added Craig Pfeiffer, MMI President and CEO. “During his long tenure on the MMI Board of Governors and as Board Chairman in 2012-2013, Matt provided strong leadership and reasoned perspective that informed many key initiatives and enhanced resources and services for our member firms. He is universally respected as a business leader, and – equally importantly – is viewed as a friend and mentor by colleagues across the asset and wealth management industries.”

Mr. Witkos, who joins a distinguished list of 40 previous Pioneer Award winners, said, “I’m honored to be recognized by MMI and my industry peers with this prestigious award. I’m flattered to be considered alongside the many esteemed award winners who have preceded me and who share my enthusiasm for delivering the benefits of professional guidance and investment management to individual investors. It has been a privilege to work closely with MMI over the years and to have been a part of its development into an industry-leading organization.”
