Wednesday, April 22, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 22, 2015 – The Money Management Institute (MMI), the national association representing the $4 trillion managed investment solutions and wealth management industry, announced today that Craig D. Pfeiffer, Founder and currently Chief Executive Officer of Advisors Ahead, LLC, has been selected to succeed Christopher L. Davis as MMI President on May 1, 2015.

“When Chris Davis informed the MMI Board last November of his intention to step down as MMI President in 2015, we knew the search for his successor would be both far from easy and important to our organization’s future direction,” said Joseph G. Schultz, MMI Chair Emeritus and Senior Vice President and Head of Intermediary Sales at American Century Investments, who headed the search and selection committee with the assistance of Wilbanks Partners for Mr. Davis’ successor. “Chris has been MMI’s President since its founding in 1997, and – given the outstanding quality of his leadership – the Board recognized immediately that his replacement would have to be a talented executive with deep industry knowledge and capable of embracing MMI with the same dedication as Chris. We are confident Craig Pfeiffer will do so. Craig is an industry veteran with extensive relationships and throughout his career has pursued a passion for continuously elevating the professionalism of the investment advice industry.”

“It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we welcome Craig Pfeiffer to MMI,” commented Lorna Sabbia, MMI Chairperson and Managing Director and Head of Managed Solutions at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. “Craig has the industry experience and hard earned perspective to step in and lead MMI at an important time in our history. Today, MMI is in a strong position and our Board looks forward to Craig building upon the momentum that Chris Davis and the MMI staff have established. MMI provides important value to the industry, and Craig’s leadership will take it to the next level.”

Mr. Pfeiffer stated, “I know MMI and its members and believe wholeheartedly in their mission and principles. Our ever-changing industry is continuously facing new challenges and opportunities, and MMI’s strengths will play a leadership role within the financial services sector and especially in the advisory solutions segment.”

Mr. Pfeiffer is a proven senior financial services executive with 34 years of experience including 29 years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (MSSB) and its predecessor firms. He transitioned from MSSB, where he was Vice Chairman and a member of the executive committee, in 2012 to found Advisors Ahead (www.advisorsahead.com), a firm committed to the development of the next generation of Financial Advisors. Advisors Ahead provides an innovative bridge between graduating university students and financial services firms. Their programs supplement university curriculums with industry content and practical in-field experience.

From 2003 to 2011, Mr. Pfeiffer held a progression of senior leadership positions at MSSB, including the National Sales Group and responsibility for marketing strategy and client communications, desktop technology solutions, and brokerage-based banking. During this period, Mr. Pfeiffer advanced innovative programs to increase advisor teaming and initiated the foundation for a culture of excellence with care of the client. Additionally, he was responsible for financial planning and wealth advisory resources, and a number of other businesses including retirement services and the global corporate equity solutions group.

From 1982 to 2003, Mr. Pfeiffer advanced through field management roles, starting as a Financial Advisor and transitioning into field management at all levels. Throughout his career he has been active in the leadership of many industry, community and charitable organizations.
