Over the past two years, these members have grown both personally and professionally, many of them taking on higher leadership positions at their firms during their time in the program. MMI is proud of this class’ ability to pioneer the program from its foundation and shape it into the impactful program that it is today.
MMI celebrated another great milestone that day in Chicago -- it welcomed the 28 new members of the Class of 2017. In accepting the largest class to date, the program’s task force noted the caliber of the applicants this year. Like the program’s first two classes, this class is composed of driven, up-and-coming leaders from MMI member firms including diverse representation from asset managers, sponsor firms, and solutions providers.

“We already have 75 new professionals in the MMI community as a result of the Leadership Pathway program. In 10 years, we will have 250-350, and they will be the ones leading MMI and the industry,” said Craig Pfeiffer during his opening remarks at the beginning of the conference. “We have a responsibility to these individuals, for when they assume senior-level leadership positions, to make sure that they are ready.”
MMI also recognizes the hard work of the program’s task force throughout the candidate selection process. Did you miss the Leadership Pathway Time Capsule at the Annual Conference?
Members of the 2015, 2016, and 2017 classes, along with other next-generation industry leaders, gathered at the Leadership Pathway Seminar in Philadelphia in early September. Part of the agenda called for attendees to break out into separate groups to develop predictions about how five distinct aspects of advisory solutions – wholesaler/advisor relationships, the use of data, the customer experience, products and solutions, and industry consolidation – would change over the coming decade. MMI buried these predictions in a time capsule at the 2017 Annual Conference and will reopen the time capsule at the 2027 Annual Conference to see how the next generation's predictions panned out! Unfamiliar with the program? The Leadership Pathway program is designed to recognize talented and motivated individuals in the next generation and engage them in MMI activities. The program’s goal is to help participants develop leadership skills that will equip participants to assume increasing levels of responsibility in addressing industry challenges and opportunities. Each class in the program participates for two years with a new class beginning every October.
