Job Posting: Senior Institutional Business Development – Singapore Global Investment Management

New York City-based global boutique Investment Management Firm is seeking an experienced business development professional who will cultivate and maintain client relationships.  This individual will be based in Singapore and be responsible for building and maintaining relationships throughout Asia including Australia.  Strategies include Global Value Non-US, International Equity, Real Estate Securities and Distressed Credit, in addition to several alternative offerings.

The firm offers a broad array of value-oriented investment products, including alternative investments, separate accounts, sub-advised portfolios and mutual funds including UCITS. We manage a total of approximately $14 billion and are looking to grow strategically, with an emphasis on enhancing our global business.

The position provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated self starter with the knowledge and experience to be successful in cultivating and closing new business throughout the territory.  The goal is to build recognition of and respect for our brand and strategies so that we are favorably considered when these consultants present investment opportunities to their clients.  The successful candidate will need to embrace our deeply-ingrained philosophy, identify suitable prospective clients and be able to communicate our strategies to appropriate audiences. He or she should be able to thrive in a hard working, collegial and entrepreneurial environment and be willing to communicate regularly with management and investment professionals regularly during working hours in New York in addition to directly reporting to the Head of the Singapore office.

Responsibilities:

  • Quickly grasp and be able to communicate a deep knowledge of the firm’s investment strategies
  • Identify and initiate a calling program on targeted prospects
  • Provide ‘best in class’ client service
  • Stay informed about regional business trends and competitors’ strategies
  • Provide market and client feedback to investment team
  • Assist in efforts to ensure effective marketing communications, i.e., presentations, RFPs, quarterly commentaries, client reviews, etc.
  • Communicate regularly with management and investment professionals in New York; be clear and conscientious about NY time constraints

Qualifications:

  • Extensive (5+ years) demonstrated investment management sales with at least 5 years in the region
  • English speaking a must but additional regional language skills preferred (Mandarin)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, time management and organizational skills
  • Client service experience including strong retention and cross-selling capabilities
  • Experience presenting complex financial products to sophisticated investors

MBA or CFA a plus
